(Sabadell, Barcelona 1972)
José Manuel Mateo got the degree of Industrial Designer at the Escola Llotja in Barcelona in 2000, graduating as one of the best students in his class.
In 1998 he joined the company Alutec del Vallés as a Designer, a renowned furniture company in which he is currently Design Director, a position he combines with the post of Co-project Director at Ozestudi, the industrial design and communication studio he himself founded at the end of the 20th century.
With more than 30 years dedicated to design, his work has received more than twenty awards, both national and international. He has served as a professional jury in different contests, and has worked for more than 200 clients, among which we can highlight Lékué, Derbi, Wrigley, El Corte Inglés, Chupachups or Unilever, to name just a few.
He firmly believes in the benefits of a design that establishes itself as a mediator between the needs of the industry and people, with society as the context to transform. With a critical outlook, he is also a writer, lecturer and author of very diverse presentations regarding the definition of Industrial Design and sustainability.
